Organization Description

Service(s) descriptionGeneration Alive's Something to Eat Program uses the vehicles of hunger and poverty to engage youth in understanding their role in addressing community needs. Beginning with a school assembly, youth are educated about hunger in their community and the world. They are then challenged to show that "compassion is an action" by raising funds for and then hand-packaging thousands of meals in a single school-wide food packing event.
Program impactOffering services in eastern Washington and the San Francisco Bay Area, we have assisted more than 250,000 students during the past 13 years, providing them with a platform to be "culture changers." The success of our proposed activities will be measured by the degree to which we meet our planned Outputs and Outcome: - OUTPUT 1: # of youth served at each site. - OUTPUT 2: 20,000 meals will be packed for local residents in need. - OUTCOME 1: 65% of surveyed students will indicate increased empathy as a result of the program.

Community programs are organized into categories known as Community School Elements. All community programs associated with Generation Alive are listed below and each program may be provided at 1 or more schools. You can use the 'Show Details' buttons to learn more about each program.
