Organization Description
Service(s) description | Since 1983, SFJAZZ has reached out to youth with in-school performances and interactive programs. From field trips to our unique SFJAZZ Center Auditorium, to hands on learning in their very own classrooms, our School Programs give students access to jazz’s rich and critical history. Our 3 core School Programs: Jazz In the Middle: Free residencies in middle school classrooms throughout the Bay Area Jazz In Session: Free clinician support for school band programs and teacher training School Day Concerts: Free school day concerts for children in grades K-12 at the SFJAZZ Center and in schools |
Program impact | SFJAZZ will provide students throughout the Bay Area with unparalleled access to high-quality music experiences, contextual information that relates music to their school studies as well as their own lives, and hands-on music-making opportunities. Participants create work inspired by our collective past and present while developing leadership and teambuilding skills. SFJAZZ believes everyone is a creative agent for change. We believe the practice of art and music expresses our common language, builds community, transforms lives, and develops creative thinkers. Our work promotes positive social and emotional school climates. |
Community programs are organized into categories known as Community School Elements. All community programs associated with SFJAZZ are listed below and each program may be provided at 1 or more schools. You can use the 'Show Details' buttons to learn more about each program.
