Organization Description
Service(s) description | We work with schools to provide in school and after school TK-12 music and choral education that increases students' confidence, musical skills and knowledge, and respect for different cultures. Our work also supports literacy instruction and social studies objectives in TK-3 classrooms. Through school and community rehearsals and performances, we connect students across neighborhoods to form friendships and build community. Performances also focus on the arts as a form of community service- fostering greater civic participation and leadership in our children and youth. |
Program impact | Singers are prepared and empowered to lead social change in our community. They develop and value multicultural respect and understanding, building friendships with students they may not have met if it were not for their participation in chorus. They increase musical skills and knowledge, performance confidence, and a sense of belonging in the chorus. We expect singers to discover their own voice in the world, while looking not just at how things are, but why that is and how they can be empowered change makers. |
