Organization Description
Service(s) description | EBAYC builds strategic partnerships with schools, city and county governments, and community organizations; and establishes trusting relationships with families to provide seamless services to support youth. Our diverse menu of services include youth violence prevention, expanded learning, and civic and community engagement. |
Program impact | EBAYC is the co-founder of Oakland’s Kids First! Initiative, the landmark 1996 ballot measure requiring the City of Oakland to allocate 3% of its annual unrestricted revenue for children and youth services. Today, 16,000 kids are served by the Kids First! Initiative. We co-authored the successful College & Career Readiness for All Act of 2014 (Measure N), California’s first local parcel tax dedicated to providing high-quality career pathways for every high school student. Approximately 12,000 high school students will be impacted by Measure N. Additionally, EBAYC partners with fifteen OUSD neighborhood schools and serves over 3,000 young people daily. Our services and partnerships with schools result in higher school attendance rates (40%), lower school suspension rates (29%), and lower incarceration rates (87%). |
