Organization Description
Service(s) description | MoAD in the Classroom (MIC) is an evidence-based arts program that is consistent with recent research showing that coordinated school visits to museums increase children’s confidence and ability to retain knowledge while adding to their depth of knowledge in critical content areas such as social studies and history. We provide participating classrooms two in-class visits from MoAD Teaching Artists, two museum field trips, and four additional classroom visits focused on the creation of artwork, under direct supervision of certificated OUSD staff. To increase program impact, MIC provides free professional development workshops for area teachers with the goal of empowering Title I teachers to meet the California TPEs. |
Program impact | MoAD in the Classroom fills an important void in arts education for over 1,300 students annually. Furthermore, we provide free field trips to students who many not otherwise have the opportunity to visit a culturally-specific museum in San Francisco. Our program is dedicated to continuous improvement and we utilize the services of Public Profit, an external evaluator. Our full, annual evaluation reports are published on our website. |
