Organization Description

Service(s) descriptionOur LIBRE (Leading the Independence of our Barrios for Raza Empowerment) youth program supports 60 Spanish speaking and bilingual Latino youth, ages 20 and under. Our goal is to empower students to be able to guide their futures and have choices. Therefore LIBRE will assist students in navigating school and guiding them in the steps to enter higher education or/and a well paid career. LIBRE services include peer support, cross cultural exchanges, tutoring/academic support, leadership training, college tours, and career exploration throughout the year.
Program impactSSCF's LIBRE program increases community and cultural integration. Our youth, who often feel isolated, have the opportunity to build relationships with their peers and adult mentors. LIBRE brings students together with shared experiences to support one another in a place that celebrates that their language and culture.
