Organization Description

Service(s) descriptionBytes for Bits provides after school computer coding classes to grade school, and middle school children in the Bay Area. We provide the computers and iPads, while the school provides the wireless internet access and a classroom. Classes are one hour per week, and typically 8-10 classes per semester. Classes are offered within two targeted 'grade levels'; grades 1-2 (early readers) and grades 3-5.
Program impactOur mission is to educate children by developing the necessary Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills within a creative and collaborative environment. We aim to create a child's foundational self-confidence in coding, increasing the likelihood that they will opt-in for coding classes once reaching middle and high school levels.
