| Service(s) description | I teach calligraphy to youngsters who otherwise might not be exposed. This course is a mix of cursive writing with pens and pencils as well as using tools like fountain pens, chisel-tips, mixed media and doing drawing and incorporating simple sytlistic effects to share with others. We have fun making thing for other people with our hands. |
| Program impact | Students penmanship vastly improves over the course of several sessions. They are all encouraged to see the value in creating small pieces of art with positive messages. They start to collect uplifting words and phrases they use throughout the class to practice their writing and draw on different techniques to beautify the pieces they create. The two biggest metrics I seem to see are when I receive decorated mail or postcards from students which means they GET IT and sharing their art with someone is something they are continuing to do, as well the overwhelming positive feedback I receive from parents who tell me how addicted to art and penmanship their student has become. Furthermore, this class is a unique opportunity for youngsters to recognize the value and beauty that sharing their words can carry. |
