| Service(s) description | Playworks partners with schools and organizations to utilize the vehicle of play to bring out not only the best in every child, but also in every adult. Playworks helps schools and districts make the most of recess through on-site staffing, consultative support, professional development, free resources, and more. We help create recesses that reinforce school culture through the focus areas of safety, engagement and empowerment, which are essential to developing both a great recess climate and also great school climate. |
| Program impact | In partnership with teachers, principals, and parents, we build a culture of play that enables kids to feel a real sense of belonging and have the opportunity to contribute on the playground, in the classroom, and into their communities. A randomized control trial by Stanford University and Mathematica Policy Research found that compared to students at similar schools, Playworks students were more physically active and teachers reported that students had greater feelings of school safety and less bullying behavior. |
