| Service(s) description | This half-day Summer Lab School is dedicated to small group literacy instruction targeted to improve literacy for children in urban centers who are below grade level in comprehension and fluency. Pre/post assessments. Final report on challenges and rewards. Instructors are CalStateTEACH teacher candidates attending the summer term. |
| Program impact | Summer Literacy Lab School has been held in OUSD for 7-years. Our Summer Literacy Lab School and professional development model prepared our candidates to serve in urban population, and benefits the students by providing complementary individualize literacy support while under the supervision of CalStateTEACH Faculty and OUSD site mentors. Students usually improve literacy by at least one reading level. |
