| Service(s) description | -Avid4 Adventure will offer 2nd – 7th grade campers different outdoor pursuits each day including but not limited to: rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, in addition to outdoor education programming. Additionally, depending on their interest, campers in this age group can register for full weeks of Mountain Biking Camp or Survival Skills Camp. -Avid4 Adventure will offer K – 1st grade campers a half-day of the various outdoor adventure activities and a half-day of story-time yoga, art or music classes to create an age-appropriate curriculum. All classes will be facilitated by Avid4 Adventure staff. - Avid4 Adventure will offer pre-K campers a half-day 'Learn to Bike!' experience, intended for kids that have not yet ridden bikes on two wheels. We'll teach these campers with our time-tested biking curriculum to try to get them from pushing to pedaling within the week. |
| Program impact | We use experiential and group based methods to develop healthy habits in children. Kids interact with 'passports' to interpret and track their progress, they learn to read and interpret geographic and topographic maps, and they interact with program materials aimed at increasing Outdoor Intelligence. They bike, hike, climb, and paddle their way through local parks, using critical thinking skills to analyze situations for safety and develop confidence in their skills. Team-building is an intrinsic part of our program, with kids cooperating to learn and hone skills they'll use their entire lives. Campers interact with old and new friends alike which allows them to develop social and emotional skills that enrich their interpersonal lives. Finally, Avid4 Adventure has a strong component of Leave No Trace throughout our curriculum, and we are working to help develop the next generation of environmental stewards. Our goal is to build healthy kids that are aware of the impact they can have on each other, the environment, and most importantly their own futures. |
