Community School ElementExpanded Learning
Service TypesAfter school and youth development, Physical Education and exercise activities, sports and athletics
Program DescriptionThere are three main focus' of the programs I intend to deliver to the community of Chabot Elementary: Physical skills, emotional and social life skills, and the appreciation for open space in the outdoors.  Students will enhance their physical health by honing their fine and gross motor skills by learning the fundamentals to a variety of sports such as soccer, kickball, softball, badminton and table tennis. They will be learning to cooperate in a team setting and flourish as individuals to complete given tasks. My philosophy behind the curriculum is that physical health and mental health are connected. Through the physical elements of my programs students will learn emotional and social health skills necessary to take risks, have empathy for others and self, communication skills with others, maintain positive attitudes in slightly competitive settings and to advocate for self. Students will gain a greater understanding of the importance of open space and the local environment through sports instruction.
