Program Description | On-site garden education, including hands-on learning of biology and ecology. Students gain an understanding of our food sources and how to nurture, respect, and enjoy them. Students plant, care for, harvest, and eat a variety of fruits and vegetables; build healthy new soil through composting and planting of cover crops; harvest seeds and store them for the next cycle of planting; observe the plant life cycles through the changing of seasons; and study water soil and root systems, as well as the diverse population of insects, invertebrates and animals who inhabit the school garden areas. |
