| Program Description | REAL HARD amplifies the positive and challenges the negative elements of school culture to make Oakland public high schools safer and more engaging learning environments. REAL HARD trains youth organizers to proactively develop themselves, support their peers, and harness their expertise to will allow all students to thrive.
We believe that all youth have leadership skills, so we employ critical pedagogy and rotating leadership for all organizers to better support their academic needs.
REAL HARD youth organizers developed, institutionalized, and are upholding a "Code of Respect" that is a youth and adult co-created set of shared values meant to foster a more positive culture across the school to improve school culture and classroom learning environments. |
